Corrupt Law System

I was watching The Bradford Riots on tv Thursday night and I was shocked to see that a guy who threw 7 bircks got 5 years in jail and yet a woman who stabbed her husbands mistress 17 times only gets 30 months?

Or the baby rapists who were recommended to serve five years?

Or the man who spiked a thieving colleague's drink with anti-freeze and blinded him, "regretfully" being sent to jail by the judge for 18 months.

Or the main jailed for 12 weeks in the hit and run killing of a three year old?

How is that a fair punishment? The law system of this country is seriously screwed up.

"That milk looks better..."

"That milk looks better..." was the comment overheard between a young couple in the diary section of the local Tesco store this evening. The result was an "upgrade" in their choice from normal Tesco whole milk to Organic whole, I didn't note the price difference but thought about the comment as I walked past.

I was interested enough to loop back via the reduced for quick sale section, Finest Walnut Bread for 10p, and satisy my curiosity. Indeed Organic milk did look better, more creamy than nasty cheap normal whole milk.

On closer inspection the reason was clear, Tesco light the section of organic milk with softer/warmer lighting, the rest of the milk is displayed with fluorscent tubes of a higher colour temperature a bluer light, less creamy.

Before going on my merry way clued up to another supermarket trick, I took a similar bottle of normal whole milk and placed it next to the creamy Organic, guess what.

Slug.

(We've been wise to red lighting in areas selling raw meat, still common in some indoor market places and in some open air markets where they use a red sheet as a cover to the stall.)

After reading this article in the newspaper:

Inquiry call on killer babysitter, I was thinking that as landlords vet their tenants credit history then why can't other people vet the history of people they hire?

There should be a national database with every single detail on each person including all of the addresses they have lived at, their credit history, health history, crime history, job history etc. When they are hired to do a job then they should fill out a form to give permission for the employer to search their history to avoid such tragedies as the one above. An audit trail of who searches when on the history should also be kept and the person should be sent an annual report on their life.

Analogies

Mr Mean and I were talking about debt today. I said that people should take responsibility for their own actions and if they take out a 30% APR loan to go on holiday or buy a new car then they should pay it back and not be given the option of bankruptcy. Mr Mean said the banks are more at fault for loaning people money in the first place. I strongly disagree with his opinion. Surely that's like saying a restaurant should refuse to serve obese people a plate of deep fried chips? People should face up to the mess they got themselves into. It is noones fault but their own. They were not forced to take out a loan for the fancy new car they wanted and they were not forced to eat 100 pies for dinner so why should others bear responsibility for the way that others live their lives?

Should Emergency Service Adapt To Modern Day Society?

I was thinking today why can't the emergency services be contacted via sms eg if I am kidnapped & can't talk on the phone or why can't I send an mms to the hospital to show what the injury is. Should emergency services adapt to todays modern day world by accepting not just plain phone calls but also things such as video telephony, mms and sms.

Animal research petition launched

An online petition has been launched allowing the UK public to back medical research using animals.

I would much rather see a petition to get drugs tested on criminals instead. Leaving someone in jail doing nothing all day long is a waste of everybody's time and resources. Criminals should be put to good use and drug testing is a very good way of getting them to give back to society.

Dress On Ebay

I am now feeling very glad that I got outbid on that princess dress on Ebay. There is someone else selling it now with a clearer photo and it is pretty clear to me that it is hideous. The fact that she is so fat and popping out of the dress could be an indication on why she is selling it, although with that photo and a starting price of £90 with a higher reserve, who is going to pay that much for it?

Thieves!

2 weeks ago I ordered £100 worth of cashmere jumpers for Mr Mean in the Marks and Spencer sale. They sent me an email 1 week ago telling me they are being despatched. So yesterday I call them up to see what happened to them as they didn't arrive them. The woman said they were left in a secure location as no-one answered the door. First of all they were delivered to Mr Means grandparents house where someone is always in and second of all it coudn't have been that secure as there is nothing in the garden. I am very annoyed that a courier leaves such an expensive purchase just lying around. They have given me a refund but some thief now has 8 beuatiful cashmere jumpers and Mr Mean is left with nothing and he is very disappointed. The courier should be sacked.

Should Iran be allowed to enrich uranium? If not, why not? Should another country go and bomb their enrichment plants? Would that be OK? What should the solution be? Would it be OK if Iran got a nuclear bomb? Would they use it against Israel, a country they have said they'd like wiped from the face of the Earth? I posted a CRT monitor on Bristol US Freecycle by mistake as I thought it was Bristol UK. I also put a photo of it in there and a description "15 inch crt monitor. See photo". I got about 10 emails after 1 day asking me if the monitor was a flat screen. Couldn't they see from the photo and description it was not? Keeping The Criminals In Employment

On Saturday morning I found myself in need of an emergency plumber to fix a leaking kitchen ceiling. The last time I used a plumber, shortly after he went to jail. So a bit stuck I called Mr Means brother who lives down the road. He told me the guy was out of jail and had done some very good work for him a few weeks earlier. So I called him up, around he came and fixed the leak and all for £30. He is coming back next week to fit a new tap for me.

So, is it morally right that I am employing a criminal or should I have got the yellow pages out and paid top wack for a good law abiding citizen?

Family Feuds

This morning Ribeana phoned me very annoyed because she told me I had't put the vacuum cleaner tubes back together properly after I cleaned her house last weekend. She was shouting a lot at me and told me she doesn't ever want me coming over again because she doesn't like me. I didn't really understand what she was talking about because she was using the vacuum without problems when I left so how could I have broken it. She sent me a text message a few minutes later saying sorry and I can visit if I want. I think she must have realised that she broke the vacuum herself. What a psycho. Poor Zayna having a mother like that. I bought her a pack of balloons today and I am going to put some in the post today to cheer her up.

Buying Some Love

Last week end I went to stay with Nastoo. While I was there I took Zayna for a walk to the charity shop and I got her a balloon. Yesterday I called Nastoo to see if I should post his house key back as I forgot to give it back but Ribeana said no as they don't trust the post. Then Zayna started crying for the phone because she wanted to talk to me. She told me "balloon gone". I think she was very upset. I told Mr Mean that I want to go to the shop this weekend to buy her a pack of balloons and I would post them but Mr Mean said no I should keep them as a treat. Now I don't know what to do. Zayna was cleatly upset her balloon broke and I feel bad. So what should I do, should I buy her a pack of balloons or save them as a treat?

People I Would Like To Bitch Slap

Today I drove to work and there was some traffic outside the school with people double parked. A woman let me pass so I went by but the stupid old hag behind her had stopped slap bank in the middle of the road so I couldn't get through. There was nothing on her left and there was about 5 metres in front of her yet she keep beeping and shouting at the woman who had let me pass but she couldn't move forward becuase the car behind me was blocking her way. If the old hag had moved forward a few metres then I would have been able to pass and the car behind, blocking everyone else would have been able to pass. I wound down my window and told the old hag to move forward but no this stupid cow said then she would get stuck. What a fuck wit.

Bristol City Council

I came back after the weekend this evening to find a letter waiting for me from Bristol City Council. Inside I find £2.10 in 1st class stamps for the faulty parking meter.

I did not realise that we were in the middle of a war and had to be rationed.

I know that stamps are legal tender but I think this takes the mick given how few peopl send letters these days after the internet was invented.

Bad Customer Service

I bought an Electrolux Z5740 last year and I am having problems with the belt breaking. So I called up Electrolux customer services today and the woman on the phone told me that I need to change the roller brush which is £25 and not covered by warranty. I asked her what if it breaks in the first week and she said I would have to pay to replace it. I told her that was ridiculous and she laughed. So I have written Electrolux a letter of complaint because I think it is ridiculous that Electrolux want me to spend £5 every 3 times I use my vacuum.

I am very angry and urge all of you reading my website not to buy an Electrolux vacuum cleaner because you will spend more on spare parts than you spent on the vacuum.

I also sent Bristol City Council a letter today asking for a £2 refund for the parking meter which did not give out a ticket when me and C went out for dinner last week.

Some people think I am insane but I strongly believe in it's the principle which counts no matter what the actual cost is. No one should expect worse after sales service just because they are paying £65 for an Electrolux instead of £200 for a Dyson.

I just signed up to UK Online. I couldn't downgrade to the 1mb service unless I paid an extra £25 regrade fee so I stuck with 2mb for £15/month. But they did offer me 1 extra month free in return for them coming over to show my mum how to install the free wireless router they are giving me so that makes 3 months free in total. They told me they only come during the week 10am-4pm which means most people are out at work which means they can get away with not giving that extra month free. Haha, I showed them.

I was wathcing a program on Channel 5 about how much make up, surgery and air brushing celebrities have done. It is very shocking and I think it is wrong as it falsley raises expectations of what people should look like. I really think Kylie should lay off the botox for awhile and Beyonce needs to be reported to trading standards for wearing a wig in the L'Oreal commercial she does. Photography Is Not An Art

If I ever get married then I have decided I will not pay some photographer £500 to come and take some crap photos of me. Instead I will ask friends and families to give me their digital shots. I have been to too many weddings recently where the photographer is poor compared to the photos that friends have taken. I would rather spend the money on other things.

Virgin Internet

I sent Virgin an email complaining of poor speeds on my ADSL connection (it's half what it should be) and here is the response I get:

Virgin.net would regard the speed ranges shown below as normal service:

For 500kbps End Users, speeds between 100 - 500kbps.
For 1000kbps End Users, speeds between 200 - 1000kbps.
For 2000kbps End Users, speeds between 400 - 2000kbps.

Please can you reply to us with the results of the speed test.

Why do companies treat their customers with such contempt? It's time to move on I think. I am not the kind of person who bends over and takes it. Even if I save myslef 10p a month it is worth the move to gain some respect.

Cleanliness Caste System

Today I used the toilets used by the call centre at work because the ones on my floor were out of order. They are so much nicer and a lot cleaner than the ones I normally use. Why do people in call centres have better facilities than the office workes? Is it because they are mor used to clearing up after themselves?

More Free Stuff

Last night Mr Mean and I were at the petrol station filling up his tyres with air. We saw a taxi driver use the free water hose to wash his car. I have never seen free water before at a petrol station and in future I will be using this to rinse my car as I resent having to pay £3 to get a machine to do it when I could do it myself for free.

Obsession?

I think I have an addiction to getting free stuff which I don't even need. I went to Sainsburys yesterday and got 5 more free pakcs of Bodyform and I gave them to Ribeana because I already have a 2 year supply. Then I logged onto Freecycle and got a set of rattan drawers. Afer a bit of moving around I managed to fit them in the kitchen and they look very neat under the stairs. Why do I have an obsession getting free stuff which I don't need? Is this why I have so much stuff?

Carried Away?

I need a new chest of drawers & didn't want to pay Argos £50 for a piece of chipboard. So I had a look on Ebay and I managed to get all of this for £30. Mr Mean thinks we can make a business out of buying stuff for cheap, keeping what we want and selling the rest on. This kind of stuff seems to sell for a much higher price in Maidenhead than what I paid for it in Bristol as I had a look for chests of drawers in Maidenhead and they all sold for £25 just for the drawers. But was it really necessary for me to buy all this stuff when all I only needed was the drawers? Am I the typical consumer that shops make money from when they have 3 for 2 or buy one get one half price offers? Sometimes I just can't help myself. I like having stuff even if it clutters up my room.

After one month of using Open Office I have decided to go back to my trusty Microsoft Office. Open Office is not very good. I cannot run my finance spreadsheet with macros and the autofilter does not work. Free software is not very good. I think this is the reason why I will always use Microsoft software. I shall never be a Linux convert because it does not do what I want.

Hiding The Truth

Recently I have found that ladies size 6 clothing is too big for me. Since the scales say I am 2kg heavier than this time last year (I go to the gym twice a week now and muscle weighs more than fat) it is unlikely I have dropped a dress size. I think in reality the government are trying to hide that we as a nation are getting fatter. They changed the dress sizes to make them more generous so we feel better about ourselves thus happier about the way this country is running so we vote them in again. It makes me very sad that the average person cannot see how superficial this government really is.

Why do people call with "number unknown" then hang up without leaving a message? This should not be allowed. People should be given a right to see who is calling them. Dreams

Last night I had a dream that I booked a flight ticket to go and C in Argentina. Me, my mum & Stu got in a taxi to go to Heathrow as they were going to India. I relased that Flo was due but I had forgotten to bring anything with me so I decided that I would go to Boots at Heathrow to get some more free Bodyform.

Why do banks advertise mortgages with a 3.99% interest rate charge yet at the end you have paid back nearly what you borrowed in interest? That's more like 90% interest, not 3.99%. What a rip off.

Well I think that Shrek and C would agree that I would buy 10 out of principle so that I would get more use out of my rip off BBC TV license. However I think the BBC need to change their attitude and sell their licenses with the TV set and not per household so that people with more televisions should pay more.

UK gender pay gap 'worst in EU'

I was watching the news this morning and they were talking about how there are so many companies which pay women less or don't recruit women with families.

Even though I am a woman with a high powered career who wants babies, I found myself slightly agreeing that women on maternity leave cause financial loss to a company. It is unrealisitc for a woman who is a director of eg Dixons to expect to go back full time and work long hours after 1 year of maternity leave. It is not suprising that companies, who only look after themselves anyway, are reluctant to put women with young families in such high positions. Job sharing is not practical due to the amount if information that won't get passed on due to other peoples inefficiency.

It is very sad that this is the case but I can't help but feel that whilst paying women back from maternity leave less is politically incorrect, it is in a companies financial interest to do so.

However there is no excuse for Mr Mean to earn more money than me when I don't have a family and we are in the same position with the same amount of experience.

A landmark investigation into why women lag badly behind men in pay has called for a change of culture in schools and workplaces.

National Depression?

Mr Mean and I were both very sad this weekend. I went to Nastoo's house for his birthday and Stu came from Paris for a suprise visit. Everytime I go to London I always feel very sad because I miss it so much. I am also a bit bored with my life. Something needs to change but I worry that I am the type of person that will never be happy. Also Mr Mean called me at 2am on Saturday because I asked him to call me when he got back home but I forgot to text him to say I was going to sleep. After that I couldn't sleep until 5am and I got so angry I threw my phone at the cupboard.

On a plus note, my Le Presse machine arrived from Ebay. Now I can finely dice onions just the way Mr Mean likes them.

Mr Mean and I have to go to Cyprus for his best friends wedding in September. He has known about this for a long time now and the date was set last September. I told Mr Mean several times since then we need to book our flights since we know the date but he won't do it. So I told him today that I will check the price and he can pay the difference when he finally decides to book if the prices have changed. I think this is very fair. Why should I have to pay the price because he is slow to book?

Hygenie

Today I dropped a bag of crisps on the floor of Mr Means car and I was about to pick them up and eat them but he told me to throw them away. I don't understand why. What is wrong with eating food off the floor when dirt has not stuck to it? There are starving people out there and to throw away food is a waste. Luckily on the weekened when I cooked him dinner, he did not see that I dropped some food on the floor then pick it back up and put it in the oven otherwise he would have made me cook something else.

Why are there so many nasty people hoping for a house price crash, wishing that many people go bankrupt so that they can buy houses at half the current value? Don't these stupid people realise that if there is a house price crash then everyone is going to jump up and buy more houses, pushing the prices straight back up? Also why do so many people think that it is all because of people who buy to let? Has the close to 50% divorce rate got nothing to do with it then?

Why do companies make it so difficult for us to customise a ready made PC at a reasonable cost. I want to buy a fast new PC to process my dvds. Dell have one with a 15" flat screen monitor and Windows XP home for £300. However I don't want the monitor as I already have an 18" crt and I don't want Windows either as I already have XP Pro. Why don't they let me take away things I don't want and have a nice new PC for £200?

A mother who let her daughter skip school has been electronically tagged for a month. Carol Horne, 42, received the order after her 15 tear old missed 3/4 of her lessions last year. The mother of four from Crowthorne, Berkshire, has been jailed for a month previously for allowing her daughter to play truant. Maidenhead magistrates ordered the tagging as "jail had not worked".

Finally a judge has recognised that jail does not work. Although I think they should have put the daughter away, not the mother. Poeple should bear the consequences of their actions no matter what their age.

If someone spends £100 at Toni & Guy getting their hair done, do you lie to them and tell them it looks nice or do you tell them the truth and say they still look like an ugly hoe and only a full body transplant can save them.

The second option goes completely against my principles of a completely honest society but sometimes people can't help being ugly so do you tell them they look nice so they feel good about themselves?

Dreams

Last night I had a dream that we went on T's hen do and her chinese friend was carrying a lot of drugs for us to have some fun with. Then we got attacked by sniffer bats and the French police came and got us. They tried to inject us with malaeria antibodies but I wouldn't take it because I didn't belive that was what it was for. So the nurse stuck the needle in my when I was sleeping.

So yet again I am dreaming about drugs. Why when I have never taken drugs nor do I want to? They are for poor people who need a getaway from their miserable reality of a life.

According to the Smallville episode I just watched, diplomats can murder people and not be arrested and it turns out this is true. Free Stuff For My Friend Flo

Bodyform have an offer on at the moment where it costs 99p to buy a pack & each pack comes with a £1 voucher for another pack. So I bought 1 pack with the voucher then I went back and used the voucher to buy another pack that had the voucher on then kept on doing the same.

Did I go a bit overboard or should I go back and get some more?

Obsessive Behaviour?

I was talking to someone today, whos name I will not say, and he said when he goes to the toilet, he puts a few sheets in the toilet first to avoid splashback, takes another piece of paper when done and covers his hand to flush the toilet & open the toilet door. Then he switches on the tap, washes his hands and takes another piece of paper to turn the tap off. Then he dries his hands and takes the final piece of paper to open the door.

Is this obsessive or practical with the number of walkers not washers that you get these days?

I saw a rather large woman taking the lift to go up 1 floor then again later on taking the lift to go down 1 floor. I found myself wondering was she taking the lift because she is too large to walk up a flight of stairs or was she so large because she won't walk up a flight of stairs?

Dreams

Last night I had a dream that I bought something from a drug dealer and I owed him £5. He told me I must pay him by 5pm (it was 4pm) otherwise he would be in trouble with his boss, and he showed me both his hands and he had no fingers. So I went to get some money but I couldn't because the bank had changed my password. I got very scared and hid under the table.

I don't really understand why I dreamt about that since I don't do drugs.

Buying Copies Sometimes Pays

So I think my 8 year old UFO trainers have finally had it so I decided to fork out an extra £15 and bought a real pair of Acupuncture trainers from the Schuh Sale. I got them today and my god I swear they were made in the same factory as the cheap copies. Even the stitching is absolutely identical. That'll be the last time I turn my nose up at people offering pirated goods because it's quite possible it came off the same distribution line as the original and just had a different (or no) label stuck on it.

Is It Really About The Principle?

I really don't understand why so many people are against ID cards. What's the big deal? The only thing I am against is having to pay £50 for something which is compulsory.

I think a far better idea would be to put a chip in all people and have a worldwide database so that every single person is accounted for along with their allergies, blood type, past treatments, criminal record, education etc. This would be a very useful solution for hospitals and dentists as all they would need to do is scan someone in to before they are treated.

It would also help catch criminals because you could see if they were at the crime scene instead of having to rely on "witness statements".

This would be an excellent solution for the world health, crime and liars problem.

Windows Piracy

Apparently Microsoft don't allow you to install Windows XP Service Pack 2 via Windows Update website if you don't have a legitimate version of Windows. But if you select "enable automatic updates" then it works and your PC automatically downloads patches without the authentication check. However I wouldn't be able to verify this since all my family have legitimate versions of Windows XP thanks to my staff discount of cost price MS software.

Also where have they been recently? There was Windows 95, 98, ME, XP and nothing for 5 years until next year when they release Windows Vista. Are they closing up shop?

Customer Service Representatives

I sent Orange an email telling them I can't make video calls in London despite me and the person I am calling having good 3G reception. I also stated that I have a 3G phone and can successfully make video calls in Bristol. Today I get a reply back telling me I need a 3G phone to make video calls.

Then I email my ISP E7even because my adsl has been down since 29th December and they've done jack all about it and they email me back telling me to ensure my username and password is correct. Don't they think I know this?

What kind of dumbass people are there that send stupid emails like that to customers. Do they have no brain?

Insurance

Why do we pay insurance only for the cost to go up when we have an accident? Surely the reason why we pay insurance is to cover the costs of a potential accident? What happens if we never have an accident? Do they give us our money back? I think a law should be passed to allow this as it is not fair that us good citizens who live an accident free life get penalised for the stupidity of others.

Gap

I went to Gap today and I saw that the 3 pairs of trousers I bought 11 days ago have been further reduced from £13 to £6.50. They have a price policy where if something is reduced then you can claim back the different within 14 days of you buying the item. Obviously tomorrow I am going back to get my £19 back. They should really just sell it at the final reduced price to begin with instead of having this ridiculous time consuming policy of making the customers come back.

Last night I was watching an episode of Beverly Hills 90210 and they were talking about the Iraqi war and how they were fighting to bring down Saddam. This episode is at least 15 years old. I can't belive how long the US Army have been fighting for. Why did they chose to go public about their mission when 9/11 happened if they had been fighting there all along? I think this is another conspiracy that the US Government planned 9/11 because they wanted an excuse to step up their fighting because they had already been there for a least 15 years.

Rubber Neckers

Today I was stuck on the M4 for 45 minutes not moving because there was an accident and people were staring. This really hacks me off as I don't want to see stuff like that and all I want to do is go home to eat my dinner. I think it should be an offence to rubber neck and people should be given a standard fine of £60 and 3 points on their license. For freaks sake the woman in front of me drove really slow even though there were no cars in front of her and I saw her staring then.
